InterfaceiFastest host connection the drive is rated for. The PCIe generation of an NVMe drive is its own field. A Thunderbolt drive that also works over USB uses its Thunderbolt version.

PCIe generationiHighest PCIe generation the drive supports, e.g. 5 for PCIe 5.0. NVMe drives only. A drive rated for PCIe 4.0 x4 or 5.0 x2 is 5 with 2 lanes, and the source note names both modes.
